‘Wetland conservation for wildlife, people and the planet’ was the mission of The CANN Project – a cross-border collaboration for key habitats in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Working for Red Kite Environment and closely with staff from Newry Mourne & Downe District Council and other CANN Project partners, I delivered content research, copy writing and image selection for 18 information panels focussed on the importance of bog habitats and species, their historical use and future benefits in the fight against climate change.
The panels were installed at several of the key project sites and a variety of accessible locations, including Peatlands Park in County Armagh, community centres, car parks, a hotel, the CalMac ferry terminal on the Scottish isle of Islay, and sports and leisure complexes. As part of the project delivery, I visited all of the sites in Ireland and Northern Ireland and produced a detailed installation guide to support the on-site installation team, focusing on technical constraints as well as the visitor experience.
